Big change starts small. The choices we make daily—how we care for ourselves, how we show up for others—build into something bigger.
For our Get Active campaign, we’re spotlighting people who show up—consistently, intentionally, and unapologetically. Sienna Fekete is one of them.
As Senior Arts Manager at The Lower Eastside Girls Club, she helps provide free, year-round programming in STEM, the arts, wellness, and activism for young women and gender-expansive youth in NYC. She also serves on the advisory board of Speciwomen, a non-profit supporting women and LGBTQIA+ artists by creating space for retreat, research, and making.

How Sienna gets active—
Getting active in the community can seem daunting—what’s a small but mighty action someone can take today?
I love seeing more people getting involved in mutual aid and finding ways to support one another through various networks. The ways we’re able to amplify and uplift each other directly are really beautiful to me. I think we’re getting more intentional about how we listen to one another about what we need to both survive and thrive.
Activism and skincare both require consistency and care. What’s one lesson from your work that applies to self-care?
To see the potential in something and nurture that until it manifests.
Tell us about a time you had to break from convention or push past resistance to make real change.
Curating a conference with my friends featuring all women of color panelists across industries to share knowledge and experience from our perspectives.
What’s your current “no one talks about this enough”?
Education! It is deeply important and something that often gets overlooked. I have witnessed the power of education in tandem with resources, creativity, mentorship, and its ability to change a young person’s life about how they see themselves in the world.
Facts don’t always change minds—what’s your method for shifting perspectives?
The confidence to be honest and unafraid of a little debate.
What’s your most powerful skill, and who or what amplifies it?
Connecting people, resources, and opportunities to create purposeful collaboration.
